SOLIDSPACE TO HOST INTERACT PUBLIC SAFETY SYSTEM'S DATA AND TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS

SilkRoad Equity, a private-investment company in Winston-Salem, announced yesterday that it has become a major stakeholder in an Asheville security business.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The security company, InterAct Public Safety Systems, sells 911 communication systems to police and fire agencies throughout the country, said Andrew "Flip" Filipowski, the chief executive of SilkRoad and InterAct.

InterAct's data and technology systems will be hosted by SolidSpace LLC, a Winston-Salem high-speed Internet company owned by SilkRoad.

InterAct has about 210 employees, and provides services to agencies in about 20 states, officials said.
